Minutes

Minutes of the March 8 Board meeting were approved.

Treasurer’s Report & Endowment Report

Bonnie wrote that pledge payments are $10,000 ahead of last year.  The UUA is on a different fiscal year so they were not over paid.

Mike presented the endowment report noting a 3.5% gain for the quarter.  The Endowment Committee will meet on April 23 and present to the congregation on May 21.

BRP Committee Report

Rich presented the report.  The BRP committee met with four general contractors (WDG, MD Rowe, Sullivan, MattCom) to solicit bids, which are due on April 28.  There will be a BRP committee meeting Wednesday May 3 at 7:00 to review the proposals followed by a special Board meeting at 8:00 to decide on the contractor.  The work may be split between two contractors.  Sharon will look at the contracts afterward.

Deb Ellman will allow the church to use her RV for cost ($300-$400/month) to house Milton on site during construction.

The following motion was made.  If an expense exceeds it’s contingency the board will be notified through Bruce J and have 48 hours to respond through Bruce J after which the BRP committee may proceed.  The motion was seconded and passed without dissent.  The importance of trust and support from the Board and communication with the Board and church members was discussed.  It was recommended that the BRP committee have an agenda item at the end of each meeting to decide what issues need to go before the board.

Rich gave a quick tour discussing the work that will be done.  A concern was raised about church members expecting too much.

Church Assets

See a Board Member for information about this discussion.

Congregational Meeting

The Congregational meeting is May 21.  Afterward, there is a pitch in lunch with Good Shepherd during which the choirs will sing together.

Minister’s Report and Religious Education Report

Bruce C presented the two reports.  Accolades were given to Frank Basile for the presentation last Sunday.

Earth day is on April 23.

The RE rooms are busy.  Accolades were given to Elsa Sands (membership) for her welcoming and inclusive approach to visitors.

Video Story

            Postponed

Old Business

The committee for the future members will visit other churches and programs as well as look at All Souls before the split to see what works.

The auction is May 6.  We need volunteers, ticket buyers and items to auction.

G.A. is the 3rd weekend in June.

MAPA Committee

Bruce J handed out a survey to generate feedback on Rev. Dr Bruce Clear, for the MAPA committee.  It was mentioned that goal oriented management sets clear expectations for all parties and is less subjective then just surveys.

The meeting adjourned at 9:10 PM

Mike Middleton, Secretary to the Board
