All Souls Unitarian Church
2009 Capital Campaign

Now that we can all see the physical results of our vision, we thank you again
for your generous support of the 2005 Capital Campaign for All Souls
Unitarian Church. Your contributions were fundamental in allowing us to make
the necessary improvements to our facility – handicapped accessibility
throughout, an expanded gathering area and atrium, renovation of the religious
education wing, roofing replacement at the library and social hall, and
restoration of the organ. We greatly appreciate your commitment to All Souls.

The cost to complete the 2005 renovation was $1.4 million. We successfully raised $1 million, and financed the
remainder with a mortgage. Because the annual operating budget does not cover the mortgage, we’re using the
endowment to pay the outstanding mortgage balance of approximately $350,000. The downside is that, over the life
of the mortgage, we will deplete the endowment and be forced to pay the mortgage - approximately $30,000 annually
– from our current operating expenses. To avoid that, we want to resolve the mortgage debt by securing additional
funds through two year pledges from members of the congregation. We prefer to do it this way because we still need
to address remaining maintenance items over the next two years – additional asbestos encapsulation, deteriorated
sanctuary windows, tile floors in the Beattie Room, and a new phone system.

We are asking for your help in securing our future. Please consider helping All Souls again by making a generous
pledge payable over the next two years. We don’t make this request lightly, and realize these are very trying times. But
the need at All Souls is great - and your support is vital. We will be mailing you a letter, brochure and pledge card in
the next few days.  If you would like to discuss this further please contact Mike Halstead, Chair – Supplemental
Capital Campaign Committee, at home at (317) 849-3386 or cell phone at (317) 514-6403.
